ESL Instruction and Support Services

Welcome to ESL Instruction and Support Services!

If English is not the language you and your child or children speak at home, you would identify your child or children as ELLs or English Language Learners on the Home Language Survey when you register with the Riverview Gardens School District.

Interpreters are always available on demand. We are happy to communicate with you in your native language. Please let us know in advance if you require an interpreter or to have documents translated into your native language.

When parents identify a child or children as an ELL, we will assess the level of English listening, speaking, reading and writing support needed, if any, and provide any necessary ESL support services as soon as possible.

Even if your child tests out of ESL during our mandatory annual assessments, the ESL teachers will still follow your child’s progress in school each year. All ELLs are welcome to work or take tests with an ESL teacher on demand, or request help with special projects or other language-related learning.

We have one ESL teacher serving our district, and you are welcome to contact her for any questions you may have.
