Five Things You Should Know for the Week of Feb. 9

1. Congratulations to RGSD's Spelling Bee Winners. Syn'Cere T. from Moline Elementary was crowned the Spelling Bee Champion. Glasgow Elementary boasted the 2nd Place and 3rd Place winners with Kaebrie N. and Machai M. Great job by all of our amazing contestants. Watch the replay at https://www.youtube.com/live/c8TBeh5s...

2. No school for students on Friday, Feb 13 due to a Professional Development Day. And RGSD will be CLOSED for President's Day on Monday, Feb. 16.

3. Congrats to our recent Freckle Challenge Winners. The program centers on Freckle Adaptive Math, a platform that personalizes learning to meet each student where they are. Each month, students focus on two key areas: a Freckle Adaptive Math Domain and a targeted grade-level standard assigned by their teacher. This dual approach ensures students are both building foundational skills through adaptive practice and mastering grade-appropriate content. View the video here.

4. Science Fair season is here! The building science fairs and judging will take place during the first week of March. The District Science Fair and judging will be held on March 25 from 6:00–8:00 PM in the Riverview Gardens High School gym.

5. Attention RGSD Community. RGSD announced Prop N, a no-tax-increase levy transfer, will be on the April 7 ballot. Prop N will not raise taxes. In simple terms, Prop N will allow RGSD to use a portion of the taxes it already collects to support the district’s Operating Fund. This will help support student programs and activities without raising taxes. Learn more at rgsdmo.org/propn

BONUS: RGSD will partner with Pink Angels to host the second Cold Water Creek Radiation Exposure Compensation Act informational meeting on Thursday, February 12 from 5:00 - 6:30 PM at Westview Middle School. Come find out if you or one of your family members is eligible for RECA funding.
