Voters in the Riverview Gardens School District approved Proposition N, the no-tax-increase levy transfer on the April 7 ballot, by a significant margin. Prop N received 58.5% approval from voters. It will allow the district to transfer $0.200 per $100 of assessed valuation from the Debt Service Fund to the Operating Fund. It will not raise taxes on area residents or businesses.
Prop N's passage will help generate approximately $730,000 to support school programs, activities and general operating expenses.
Thank you to the entire RGSD community for taking the time to learn about Prop N and for showing your support at the polls.
RGSD will welcome a new director to the Board of Education. Voters re-elected Sharon Titsworth (26%) and Jacqueline S. Jackson (23.2%) to serve a three-year term on the Board of Education. Voters also elected Melvin Williams (23.2%) to join the BOE.
The board members will be sworn in at the conclusion of the board meeting on Tuesday, April 14.
