The Black History Showcase on Thursday, March 6, was a wonderful event that brought students and staff together to celebrate culture and talent. The night began with a warm welcome from Principal Ms. Clark, setting the stage for a meaningful and engaging program. Poetry performances were a highlight, including I Ain’t That Brown Girl, a powerful poem written by London Cannon and read by both her and Asia Harris. They did an outstanding job delivering their message with confidence and emotion. The program opened with the choir singing Lift Every Voice and Sing, creating an uplifting start to the event. The showcase also featured an

African wear fashion show, an exciting step team performance, and the lively Pom Pom dancers. The Riverview Dancers gave a beautiful performance, and Ms. Washington played the violin while Ms. Norise shared her poem. Adding to the excitement, students also performed a scene about the Harlem Globetrotters, bringing history to life in a fun and engaging way. Throughout the night, the audience joined in with trivia questions and raffles, making the event even more interactive.

To close the night, a powerful African drum performance filled the room with energy, bringing everyone together in celebration. The students did an amazing job, and the staff’s support and teamwork helped make the event special. It was a night filled with creativity, culture, and connection.
