Glasgow Elementary School was named a winner for the inaugural Louie Awards. Glasgow was selected for maintaining one of the region's highest average growth scores in English Language Arts between 2022 and 2025. Glasgow received the prestigious Louie Award trophy at a ceremony on February 20.
The award is sponsored by the Gateway to Success Foundation, in partnership with the PRIME Center at Saint Louis University. The awards program identifies schools that demonstrate the most significant year-over-year growth in English Language Arts (ELA) and math for students in 3rd- through 8th-grade.
It is truly an honor for the staff and students of Glasgow to receive this award,” stated Kasia Landa, principal of Glasgow Elementary School. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment of our entire team.”
“Glasgow’s collaborative efforts to educate students at high levels, along with our shared belief that every child can learn and succeed, have been the driving force behind our continued growth and success,” Landa added.
As one of 10 grand prize winners from across the St. Louis region, Glasgow will receive $15,000 to support its educational programming.
“Glasgow Elementary’s recognition as a Louie Award winner is a reflection of the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students, and the strong support of families and staff who believe deeply in the power of education,” stated RGSD Superintendent Tanya Patton, Ed.D. “Achieving one of the highest growth scores in English Language Arts across the region is an outstanding accomplishment.”
The Louie Awards program identifies schools that have the highest impact on the essential skills of Language Arts and Math.
The Louie Awards program reviews standardized test scores to quantify student growth over time. Results are based on the Missouri Growth Model, which has gained recognition for its ability to build upon standardized test scores to help separate the impact schools have on student learning from non-school factors.
Selection for the top prizes was based on the strongest gains recorded during the 2024-2025 school year.
“We are extremely proud of our team at Glasgow for believing in the capacity of our students and for creating an environment where students are inspired to grow,” Patton added. “This award proves that when we remain focused on student learning and work collaboratively, our students can achieve great things.”
