RGSD Approves $15K Stipend for Virtual Teachers, $200 per day for Teacher Assistants

On Tuesday, August 9, the RGSD Special Administrative Board approved a stipend amount of $15,000 for each course load or classroom that is taught by a virtual teacher. Under the plan, approved RGSD teachers would be allowed to teach in-person and online classes simultaneously. In the classroom receiving virtual instruction, a teacher assistant or long-term substitute teacher would be used to support the virtual teacher by assisting with preparation for teaching, instruction, grading, recordkeeping and classroom management.

SAB Approves Referral and Signing Bonuses

On Tuesday, August 9, the RGSD Special Administrative Board approved the Employee Referral Program. The program will reward faculty and staff for referring candidates who are successfully hired, and remain employed, for the 2022-2023 school year.

Two New Special Administrative Board Members Appointed by Missouri State Board of Education

At today’s State Board of Education (State Board) meeting, board members accepted the recommendation made by Commissioner of Education Margie Vandeven to continue with a transition of the Riverview Gardens School District Special Administrative Board (SAB) governance to a seven-member local governing board. The State Board re-appointed three SAB members and appointed two new members, setting a staggered final term of office for the five appointed members to expire no later than June 30, 2024, allowing for their transition off the SAB through local elections in April 2023 and 2024.

Here are the details of the newly approved increases: $15/hour minimum salary for support staff (revised Custodial, Food Service and Clerical Salary Schedule) One step movement for teachers (exception - longevity teachers will receive 3%) and all support staff (exceptions: Custodial, Food Service, and Clerical) 3% increase for administrators

Gentlemen of Vision Mentoring Program’s Step Teams Win National Step Dance Competition

The step teams from the Gentlemen of Vision Rites of Passages Enterprises (G.O.V) and their middle school program, The Young Men of Vision Mentoring Program (Y.M.O.V.) travelled to Newark, New Jersey to participate in the YouthStep USA National Step Championships over the Memorial Day weekend. The High School team competed using the 1984 movie The Last Dragon as a theme and the Middle school team used the hit 90’s sitcom Martin as a theme. Both teams won 1st place and highest scores of all of the teams that competed in all categories in both middle and high school divisions.
