Dear RGSD Ramily,

Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 26) an officer-involved shooting occurred near the intersection of W. Florissant Avenue and Northwind Estates Drive. While the shooting did not occur on Riverview Gardens School District property, local law enforcement advised the following schools to enter a soft lockdown: Koch Elementary, Lemasters Elementary, Moline Elementary and Westview Middle School.

During the lockdown period, the doors to the buildings were locked. Students and staff were advised to stay inside their classrooms and offices until law enforcement officials completed a search of the surrounding area.

Security Resource Officers and District security personnel reported to the affected schools to ensure the safety of scholars and staff. No scholars or staff members were harmed or threatened during the period of the soft lockdown.

Local law enforcement officials reported to the area and completed their search, apprehending suspects in the process.

During the search, several roads were blocked by police, which may have resulted in delayed bus transportation. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the transportation delays.
